Ross-on-Wye has a range of dentist surgeries, doctors, hospitals and opticians within the town. The nearest hospital is Ross on Wye Community Hospital in the town itself. Alternatively the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester or Hereford County Hospital are nearby. For your pets’ healthcare there are two veterinary surgeries in Ross-on-Wye.

Or you could visit the nearby shopping malls at Hereford Old Market or Gloucester Quays. Both are host to a number of large department stores, chain restaurants and cafes. Within Ross-on-Wye there are large supermarket chains including Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Aldi as well as numerous independent grocery stores, butchers, delicatessens and health food shops stocking local and organic produce.

For those seeking more of a thrill, the surrounding Wye Valley is home to a number of adventurous activities for all ages. There are excellent fishing opportunities along the banks of the River Wye while walking is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the area for both visitors and residents. If great food is what you’re after, the Mill Race pub in Walford is close by offering an award winning food and wine menu, using the very best local produce. Ross-on-Wye also offers a variety of modern restaurants, cosy pubs, coffee shops and takeaway food outlets. The high quality and varied local produce is a key feature on many menus!

Leisure Centres

Ross-on-Wye benefits from a swimming pool, numerous gyms, cricket pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens and playing fields. There are numerous sporting clubs available to join. There are also plenty of children's play areas within walking distance of the development. 


Ross-on-Wye library is located in the centre of the town and is open Monday-Saturday. As well as a good selection of books, videos and DVD's, they offer free internet access, self service photocopier, free classes, and gallery and exhibition space.


Ross-on-Wye has a good selection of primary schools available to local residents. Within the town there is also a high school as well as an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' sixth form. There are technical colleges available in Hereford, Gloucester and The Forest of Dean. In nearby Monmouth, Gloucester and Cheltenham there are numerous independent schools including the renowned Cheltenham College and Cheltenham Ladies College, The Haberdashers Schools and The King's School. There are also various nurseries and pre-schools within the town for younger children.
