Ross-on-Wye has a range of dentist surgeries, doctors, hospitals and opticians within the town. The nearest hospital is Ross on Wye Community Hospital in the town itself. Alternatively the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester or Hereford County Hospital are nearby. For your pets’ healthcare there are two veterinary surgeries in Ross-on-Wye.


Slow the pace down with a spot of retail therapy Ross-on-Wye - try the bustling market which is held every Wednesday and Saturday. Or you could visit the nearby shopping malls at Hereford Old Market or Gloucester Quays. Both are host to a number of large department stores, chain restaurants and cafes. Within Ross-on-Wye there are large supermarket chains including Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Aldi as well as numerous independent grocery stores, butchers, delicatessens and health food shops stocking local and organic produce.

For those seeking more of a thrill, the surrounding Wye Valley are is home to a number of adventurous activities for all ages. Walking is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the area for both visitors and residents. Every trail is unique and a perfect way to admire the true beauty in this part of the country. Ross-on-Wye benefits from a swimming pool, numerous gyms, cricket pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens and playing fields. There are numerous sporting clubs available to join. 


Ross-on-Wye library is located in the centre of the town and is open Monday-Saturday. As well as a good selection of books, videos and DVD's, they offer free internet access, self service photocopier, free classes, and gallery and exhibition space.

The spire of St Mary's Church, towering 205 feet into the air, can be seen from miles around as a welcome to worshippers and visitors. In addition to St Mary's there are numerous other Christian churches in and around Ross-on-Wye. Other religious groups including Quakers, Jehovah's Witness, Jewish and Muslim have places of worship either in Ross or the nearby cities.
