Architectural Technician

The Role

The role of the Architectural Technician is to prepare high quality and accurate drawings in vectorworks or autocad for Freeman Homes and Freeman Commercial projects.

Desirable Knowledge and experience

  • Formal qualifications related to construction / design
  • Membership of professional body relating to role

Essential Knowledge and experience

  • Experience of 3D earthwork modelling drainage and highways
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Self-motivation and ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to work methodically and work to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation and industry trends

Key Responsibilities

  • To produce good quality and accurate drawings as required
  • To assist the LPM in the design process of the residential division
  • To produce drawings as required including house type drawings, standard details and layouts
  • To assist the LPM in managing professional consultants required to achieve satisfactory planning consents
  • Produce working drawings to ensure that projects are constructed to meet current building regulations, Zurich or NHBC specification, planning permissions and company expectations and standards.
  • Produce layout plans for housing schemes to meet the development brief
  • Produce standard details to ensure consistency throughout the company and best practice
  • Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure production information meets required standards
  • Continual professional development to ensure that chosen detailing and production methods are up to date in industry.
  • To assist the Land and Planning Manager with all tasks as instructed
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of our design and production process
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of bespoke design to meet the customers aspirations
  • To attend regular project meetings
  • To identify opportunities and communicate them to higher managemen
  • To perform duties as a Architectural Technician in accordance with the company’s current Health and Safety policy and procedures
  • To undertake any duties that reasonably fall within the scope of the job
  • To carry out all duties at the request of the directors
  • To continuously improve processes relating to the role
  • To execute instructions received from higher management and be committed to their completion.

The Person

We are looking for a Architectural Technician who is passionate about the role and will strive to improve on standards to satisfy our customers.  In addition the following personal attributes are essential for the role:

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, Vectorworks or autoCAD
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to check their own work
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines under pressure
