Severnbank, Newnham on Severn

Severnbank at Newnham on Severn approved at committee

We are delighted to share that our new development of 80 homes in Newnham on Severn, Gloucestershire has been approved at committee.

We commissioned architects O3S, the masterminds behind a low-impact, sustainable regeneration scheme in Bristol’s Bedminster Green, to help shape the design. Situated on a gently rising section of land near the banks of the River Severn, with stunning views over the water, the development has been named Severnbank.

Areas of green infrastructure have been incorporated into the design; native tree retention and significant planting will help to preserve the natural habitat conditions on the site. The design also includes use of a Sustainable Drainage System, wildflower areas to encourage biodiversity, bat boxes, and trees located to create ecological ‘corridors’ for native species, amongst other environmental initiatives.

The development comprises 80 properties in total, including apartments, houses and 12 affordable homes. The properties range in size from 1 to 5 bedrooms, and there are a variety of layouts from the traditional style to contemporary open-plan. The exterior finishes of the properties are designed to blend the traditional aesthetic of the area’s existing architecture with some modern features, providing a balance of the old and the new.

Part of the development, named Watersmeet at Severnbank, will be dedicated to over 55s. These 12 properties are designed to be adaptable, meaning that they adjust to meet the changing needs of later life. With features like flexible, future-proofed design and low-maintenance homes and gardens, Watersmeet will offer optimal accessibility and convenience to support independent living.

Work is due to begin on site in October.
