International Standards

At Freeman Homes our mission is clear, we are building for a better future. Our approach to sustainability is about considering the future and ensuring that we create sustainable communities and grow a sustainable local business, that creates a positive impact for everyone. We operate a Sustainability Framework to ensure that we promote ethical practices in our day-to-day activities, with our people and through the communities and places that we create.

United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals

As part of Freeman Homes' Sustainability Framework, we align ourselves with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which we use to underpin the design and delivery of our developments. We have identified seven goals as being the most relevant to our business, and where we can make the greatest impact locally and regionally. We are focused on:

  • Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good health and well-being
  • Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy
  • Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth
  • Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry innovation and infrastructure
  • Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities
  • Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
  • Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on land

This drives the way we work, the places we create, and the service we provide.

Planet Mark

In early 2024 we partnered with Planet Mark to create a clear pathway in our transition to Net Zero. By analysing what we build, how we build it, and the long-term effects of everything that we do, Planet Mark will help us refine our construction practices even further and help us measure our carbon footprint more accurately and ensure we stay on the right trajectory.

Aligned with the UK requirement to hit net zero by 2050, we are proactively making these commitments now for a greener, more sustainable future. As we usher in new heights of sustainability, we’re proud to be driving positive change and setting new standards in our industry.

Environmental Management

At Freeman Homes we operate in line with ISO14001 (Environmental Management). Our accreditation acknowledges our environmental responsibilities with the aim of reducing the impacts through better waste management and sustainable practices.
