Freeman Homes Awarded Prestigious 5‑Star HBF Rating for 2026 as MF Freeman Group Celebrates 60 Years of Building in the Region

Local housebuilder recognised once again for outstanding customer satisfaction during the Group’s milestone anniversary year

Freeman Homes, the award‑winning local housebuilder operating across Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties, is proud to announce it has once again achieved the maximum 5‑Star rating in the 2026 Home Builders Federation (HBF) New Homes Customer Satisfaction Survey, the industry’s most respected measure of customer experience.

The 5‑Star rating is awarded to housebuilders whose customers would recommend them to a friend, based entirely on independent feedback from people who have recently moved into a new home. With more than 50,000 homeowners taking part nationally each year, the survey is one of the largest of its kind in the UK.

This latest recognition confirms Freeman Homes’ consistently high standards of customer care, quality and service across its property collections, and comes during a landmark year for its parent company, MF Freeman Group, which is proudly celebrating 60 years in business.

Luke Freeman, Group Chief Executive of MF Freeman Group and Founder of Freeman Homes, said:

“Achieving a 5‑Star rating again is a real testament to our people, from the teams designing and building our homes, to those supporting customers through the buying journey and beyond. To receive this recognition in our 60th anniversary year makes it especially meaningful. It reflects both our family heritage and our continued commitment to doing things the right way.”

Hayley Coombs, Sales & Operations Director at MF Freeman Group and Freeman Homes, added:

“Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions people make, and our aim is always to make that experience feel personal, supported and as stress‑free as possible. From the first visit to long after move‑in day, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. This award shows that approach really matters.”

A stronger measure of long‑term customer care

This year marks the first HBF results under an updated scoring system, which now draws on customer feedback at both eight weeks and nine months after moving in. The enhanced methodology strengthens what a 5‑Star rating represents, recognising not just first impressions, but sustained quality and aftercare over time.

60 years of family values, craftsmanship and community

Founded in 1966 by Mervyn and Jenny Freeman, MF Freeman Group began as an agricultural contracting business before steadily evolving into a diverse, family‑owned group spanning contracting, civils, industrial construction, housebuilding, plant and tipper hire, strategic land and community investment.

Their son, Luke Freeman, joined the business in 1996 after graduating in Construction Management, officially launching Freeman Homes in 1999. Since then, the housebuilding division has delivered over 600 homes across more than 50 locations, primarily in sought-after villages across Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.

Despite its growth, Freeman Homes remains rooted in family values, building thoughtfully designed homes and sustainable communities intended to be enjoyed for generations.

Building better homes, responsibly

Freeman Homes has earned a strong reputation for delivering homes that offer more space, thoughtful design and a high‑quality specification as standard, often referred to as its Signature Specification.

Since 2023, 100% of Freeman Homes properties have achieved an A‑rated Energy Performance Certificate, with all new homes featuring solar photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps, highly thermally efficient timber‑frame construction, energy storage batteries, electric vehicle charging points, energy‑efficient appliances and underfloor heating. Outdoor spaces are designed with equal care, incorporating enhanced landscaping and wildlife‑friendly features that significantly exceed planning and biodiversity requirements.

Sustainability runs through the wider MF Freeman Group too. The Group has partnered with Planet Mark, the UK’s leading net‑zero certification body, to map a transparent and measurable route to net zero by 2045, ahead of the national 2050 target. The business also aligns its work with seven United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on areas where it can have the greatest positive impact.

Customer experience at the heart of everything

Beyond independent surveys, Freeman Homes meets personally with every customer to discuss their experience, ensuring feedback is listened to and acted upon.

One recent homeowner commented:

“I would thoroughly recommend buying a Freeman Home. I’m now living in my second one. Built with flair and imagination, they create comfortable, well‑designed living spaces with high‑quality workmanship and outstanding after‑sales support. Buying a property can be stressful, but dealing with Freeman Homes was a pleasure. This is not just a house, it’s a real home.”

As MF Freeman Group celebrates six decades of growth, innovation and responsibility, the continued 5‑Star recognition for Freeman Homes highlights a business that has evolved with the times, without ever losing sight of its customers, communities or values.
