Freeman Homes Sponsor Monmouth Aquathlon

Freeman Homes are the proud sponsors of The 2016 Monmouth Aquathlon organised and hosted by Monmouth Tri Club taking place this Sunday 24th. The race entails a 2km swim in the River Wye starting with a 500m upstream and then a 1.5km downstream. The run then covers 12.5km of a scenic off-road route. Competitors can enter solo for the full challenge or as a 2-person relay.

undefinedIt is the second year running Freeman Homes have supported this brilliant challenge that enjoys the beautiful local scenery. All competitors will enjoy a Freeman Homes sponsorship bag that holds some offers not to miss. Within the local area we have built exclusive developments in Ross-on-Wye, Staunton and Llangrove that take full advantage of the fantastic Wye Valley countryside.

This year the event is expecting well over 100 competitors from across England and Wales covering a mix of serious competitors and some more ‘fun runners’. Race Director Richard Newhouse commented “I am delighted that so many people are able to enjoy a challenging event in such glorious scenery as the lower Wye Valley, especially now that open water swimming is having a resurgence all over the country!” One of the runners already entered is MP David Davies who has competed the last two years and will present the prizes later in the day. Mr Davies said “The Aquathlon is a great way to keep fit and enjoy open water swimming at the same time, which is not as intimidating as it looks. I am sure this is going to become an increasingly popular event in Monmouth’s sporting calendar and I look forward to lending my continued support.”

The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) will provide safety and first aid cover with Monmouth Canoe Club providing Kayak support. This year promises all the fun and challenge of last year for both swimmers and runners along the beautiful River Wye.
