Help to Buys turns a dream into reality for this First Time Buyer

Earlier this year Shaun Meadows took advantage of the Government’s Help to Buy scheme and moved into his first home in February at Woodland View, Mitcheldean.

When Shaun decided it was time to leave the comfort of his parents’ home and get on the property ladder he was worried that he wouldn't be able to afford to make the move. Shaun saw the Woodland View development advertised online and visited the site one Sunday afternoon. He immediately fell in love with the site and a 3 bedroom town house in particular. Having been to the bank previously he knew this home was unfortunately out of his budget, however with Help to Buy he was able to put an offer in immediately and secure his dream home.

Shaun told us how Help to Buy made a difference to him: “After living with my parents it had come to a point where I needed to have my own space and independence, however making the move on my own I was worried that it would take years to save up the required deposit to buy my own home. I looked in to Help to Buy and this scheme meant that I was able to move out a lot faster than I anticipated and I couldn't be happier in my new home. I also found the process of going through Help to Buy extremely simple, which is needed when purchasing your first home.”

Shaun decided to purchase his first home at Woodland View because of its accessible location, he told us: “I liked that the development was in a small village with local amenities yet located within easy access of Gloucester and the M5. I travel to different locations with my job so being in a location which was easy to get to was an important factor for me.”
